B33-THE HORSEHEAD NEBULAE | |||
The Horsehead Nebula is a dark globule of dust and non-luminous gas that obscures light from behind it, especially the moderately bright nebula IC434. It just so happens that the dust is shaped like a horses head. This object was a challenge and it took me several attempts to get it. Image was captured using my newly modified SC3 at prime focus of my MN56 with a Ha filter and represents the sum of 20 X 30 sec exposures - the image has been reduce in size (binned) by 2 using Iris to make the image more defined. I definitely want to improve on this image in the future. |
